The Rascals, for me, is a ceaseless project that keeps giving back to us in different ways and Im grateful to be on this journey with an amazing team of ambitious, full-hearted individuals. I live on the property with my son and my dog and feel lucky to be able to call this our home.
Shenal first came in touch with The Rascals while writing an essay about kitesurfing as a school project. 5 years later he joined our team! You can find Shenal behind the bar and he will be able to answer most of your questions or send you in the correct direction.

Together with Sandamali, Lakmal grinds away in the kitchen and produces tasty, healthy dishes day after day. At home he has a wife and baby boy.

Big ups to the kitchen crew for their efforts to reduce waste, as it involves quite some extra work, but makes a huge difference.
MAWFEER
HEAD OF KITE SCHOOL
Grown up in Kalpitiya, Mawfeer has been living and breathing kite surfing since young age. His dedication and passion for the sport reflects in the way he teaches and its pure joy to watch him on the water.
SHIFAN
ALL ROUNDER
You will meet Sifan if you are with us over the weekend, when he then takes over the administrative work from Ifath. On the weekdays he works on his own accounting firm. Sifan has been with us part time since 2014! We all look forward to weekends with Sifan:)
AMJATH
KITE INSTRUCTOR
Amjath is one of our dedicated local kite-instructors. He came in touch with kitesurfing at the age of 12 and has participated in several international kiteboarding events at professional level. The last 3 years he has been teaching at The Rascals where he holds beginner as well as advanced lessons.
IRESHA
HOUSEKEEPING
Iresha is our latest addition to the team! She works side by side with Priyanthi, organizing the garden and the rooms. She is married and has 3 kids. She lives close by, together with her daughter, son and husband. Her husband used to work at sea but due to a series of illnesses he now stays at home and Iresha is looking after the income for the family.
IFATH
FRONT OFFICE MANAGER
Ifath joined us beginning of 2017. On weekdays you will find him in our office, looking after billing, check-ins and check-outs and on weekends he studies accounting. He is a great asset to the team.
SUDU
SKIPPER AND BEACH ASSISTANT
Former fisherman Sudu joined us already in 2013. He is a skillfull and attentive boat driver and together with Alex, he looks after your kitesurfing needs at the beach and might be the one who takes you on an excursion or kite trip.
SANDAMALI
COOK
Hardworking single mum to 2 teenage girls, but one could say she is all ours mum. Her husband was a diver and passed away in the bends in 2013 and she has been working with us since beginning of 2014. Her magic touch makes the best curries in Sri Lanka.
LOUISA
BOOKINGS
Louisa is most probably the first rascal you will get in touch with. She answers your emails, arranges your bookings and makes sure that everything is in order prior to your arrival. Louisa is from Munich and we are still celebrating the day that she moved to Kalpitiya.

SKIPPER & BEACH ASSISTANT
Alex is a superb boat driver, he used to work as a fisherman until he joined us in 2016. He will assist you at the beach hut and come for your rescue in the water! Very lucky to have him on the team!

YOGA TEACHER
Shibi is the lovely owner and manager of Anawasal Resort next door and we are so grateful to have her as a neighbor and friend. She is a yoga teacher and gives yoga lessons to Anawasal and Rascal guests.
AKILA
ALL ROUNDER
Akila has been with us since 2017. He is an all rounder so you might find him behind the bar or at the beach. He is the only child in his family and he can make the most amazing art works on shells and coral. You can find some of his creations for sale in the kite room.
MALAN
ALL ROUNDER
Like Akila, you will find Malan a bit here and there. He is a spark of energy and always with a contagious smile. He lives with us on the property and once in a while he goes home to help his father at their vegetable farm.
PRIYANTHI
HOUSEKEEPING & GARDEN
Widowed mum to two young girls with grit, Priyanthi has been in our team for 3 years. She spreads love in our garden and prepares the rooms together with Iresha.
SAMITH
SECURITY
Samith has been working the night shift since 2017. Looking after the property and assists with late check-in's. Nobody could do the job the way he does it and he seems to have enthusiasm in everything he does. He dedicates his free time to his biggest interest marine wildlife.
